Three Ontario Government Facilities Win National Awards

Buildings in Pembroke, St. Catharines and Thunder Bay will now compete for international BOMA awards

TORONTO — Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) is proud to announce that the Renfrew County Courthouse in Pembroke, Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines and Ontario Government Building at 189 Red River Road in Thunder Bay have each won another prestigious award. At a recent ceremony in Montreal, the three facilities were each named national “The Office Building of the Year” (TOBY) award winners in their respective categories by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada).

The three TOBY winners were among 22 government-owned facilities that achieved BOMA BESt (Building Environmental Standards) certification in the 2008-09 fiscal year, bringing the total to 47 over a two-year period.

The TOBY award specifically recognizes excellence in property management, operations, resource conservation, environmental awareness, leasing and building design, customer service and innovation. The three facilities will be competing for an international BOMA TOBY award. Winners will be announced at the BOMA International Conference in Los Angeles County, California in June 2010.
