Emergency Management and Security
ORC supports the Ontario Public Service (OPS) program requirements in relation to the government’s emergency management, physical security and business continuity policies. This includes coordinating the administration of OPS security screening checks for its contractors and subcontractors and supporting Ministries in conducting threat risk assessments and building physical security plans in accordance with OPS Policy. ORC also supports the OPS’ accommodations requirements as set out in OPS Emergency Management Ontario’s Business Continuity / Continuity of Operations Program.
In order to protect facility based critical infrastructures, ORC maintains its own facility emergency management protocol and tests these with the OPS. ORC has an internal Emergency Management Committee (click here to view Committee poster - pdf format) where internal staff share information and best practices relating to their emergency management related functions. This includes responsibilities that prevent, mitigate, prepare, respond or recover from crisis situations in both the operations and business of ORC. The committee is active in engaging in public events on emergency management related issues such as Emergency Preparedness Week: .
ORC is an active member in industry related activities relating to facility emergency management and aims to be a centre of excellence and model for industry. This includes ORC’s participation in BOMA Toronto’s Emergency Management Committee which focuses on supporting the building owners and managers industry in developing emergency management related program support.
