Phase Two (now underway)



Tower restoration now complete.

The Tower project included the restoration of the stone and brick masonry and window restoration, new slate roof and flashing, eaves troughs and downspouts.

Also replaced were the existing metal pinnacles with new lead coated copper, and restoration of the existing metal ladder to the tower attic.

Also restored/rebuilt were the original wood windows, replaced missing storm windows, added new sull sashes and replaced rotted wood in the ceiling and floor of the attic. The windows were painted with the original paint colours, as in Phase One.

The scope of work for the second part of Phase Two will include the following:

  • replacement /repairs of slate roof and flashing;
  • downspouts, gutters, eave details, sealants and other features integral to the overall building roof system;
  • replacement of deteriorated metal cornices and fascia with new matching lead coated copper;
  • re-pointing of brickwork and stone;
  • brick replacement at deteriorated locations;
  • Stone Dutchman and mortar repairs including custom matching of mortar mixtures;
  • new wood windows and storm windows to match existing;
  • repair, re-glazing and repainting of double hung windows;
  • minor repairs to finishes associated with window repair work;
  • caulking of masonry and wood windows;
  • cleaning of brick and stone surfaces;
  • removal/rebuild of existing north tower stone stair entrance including new foundations, drainage and weeping tile system;
  • restoration and repairs of three existing cupolas, including re-covering with new lead coated copper.
