ORC Standard Forms of Contracts

The ORC consulted extensively with Ontario’s architecture, engineering, interior design and construction associations to develop revised contract templates for use on ORC construction projects. The resulting Supplemental Conditions to the industry standard CCDC2 and OAA 600 contract templates are generally supported and in some cases endorsed by their respective associations. These contract forms were rolled out in 2009/10 improving the ease of doing business with ORC. Additionally the collaborative forum established with industry will ensure ongoing dialogue with respect to improving construction delivery for the Province while ensuring a posture of being open for business.

The new contract templates are a positive move in making it easier to do business with government and providing a more balanced approach to contracting. The new contract templates contain clauses that protect the ORC while appropriately mitigating risk for the suppliers while making it easier to do business with the ORC.
